The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
